Lifeprint - Want to print some videos?
Kickstarter. One of the bains and joys of my existence! My latest delivery from kickstarter was the lifeprint printer. I admit I had been looking into buying a mobile printer for my phone for a little while and this ones ability to "print videos" intrigued me.
There are a few different mobile printers out there now and the price / quality have always made me question if they are good or not. I admit I have NO patience for ink cartridges, having to calibrate things, etc etc. And I may have once bought a new printer that came with ink cartridges because it was cheaper than the cartridges alone!
The lifeprint printer uses zink photo paper that pulls the colour from the film rather than printing onto paper. It also has a sticky backing so you can stick them onto anything. Including the kitchen fridge which I may have used for my first print!
Ok so pros and cons:
Con - I admit when I first got it and was trying to load the paper I had no idea how to. Turns out the top slips back a little and then you can lift it off. This is easy when you know how to do it but none of the setup instructions said how this is done.
Pro - The printer is super portable and looks great.
Con - Im still playing with photo editing before printing but the first couple of prints weren't the best quality. I suspect this might be based on how I edited the photos and the frame from the video but still not quite the quality I was expecting.
Pro - The video functionality is awesome! Being able to print a cover for a video then hold your phone up to it to play it is great and what I think this printer was really made for. The photo size isn't massive but great for the novelty of being able to hand around to people and share videos.
Down and dirty is that its not a printer that I would use for putting pictures in a photo album or in a frame for a wall. But thats not what it was made for. As a printer for the video functionality and ease of printing small but cool photos I think its awesome.
