Hong Kong - Am I back there yet?
There are so many benefits to having siblings and I love both my brothers for their help and support. One perk of having a brother live overseas is the free accomodation! Being short also helps because it makes couch sleeping super comfortable no matter the couch size. 😂
With a brother living in Hong Kong I have been able to stay there a couple of times now and I really love it as a city.
Power plant on the beach?
First up was Lamma Island to watch my brothers team dragon boating. When Pete first told me there was a power plant to one side of the beach I didn't really know what to expect. Turns out there really is a massive power plant just right there on the side of the beach! Not something I have seen here in NZ.
Everyone who knows me also knows that I have a love for good food and Hong Kong is a place for amazing food at super cheap prices! When people asked me about my plans in Hong Kong I said I wanted to do 2 things.
1) Catch up with my brother and 2) Eat as many dumplings as I could!
I have added a few photos of some of the tasty treats on offer in Hong Kong to the gallery below.
So many electronic toys
Hong Kong isn't just amazing for the food. It is also amazing for shopping for both electronic toys. I am a bit of a geek (which you may have already noticed) and so far in my trips to Hong Kong I can recommend a couple of places for electronics.
Wan Chai Computer Centre - located in Wan Chai this is a great place to go if you are looking for laptops, speakers, hard drives, computer parts, cables and accessories.
Golden Computer Arcade - Better for video games and consoles!
So on my last trip to Hong Kong I was mainly focused on the shopping and eating opportunities but I still managed to do a touristy thing as well by going up the peak. Now I can be lazy when it comes to exercise so I admit I went for the easy way and took the tram up.
When you get to the top you get some amazing views of the city. If you are lucky you will get a clear day when you head up so you can actually see the city! I also recommend going up once on a clear day and again on a clear night. The city views are amazing and getting photos of the city and boats lit up at night are a must.
